Additional Information
This workshop aims to strengthen community ties by helping participants learn a common language around mental health and wellbeing using Internal Family Systems (IFS), an evidence-based mental health therapy. Through my use of IFS with clients, I’ve observed significant improvements in self-compassion and understanding, which extend into relationships with others. IFS addresses individuals on multiple levels—mentally, emotionally, physically (including somatic symptoms), and spiritually—enhancing our abilities as parents, partners, colleagues, and neighbors.

Shay Vetterman, a licensed massage therapist and co-facilitator, also applies IFS principles with her clients. We share a vision that the broader community, beyond professional care settings, can greatly benefit from learning about IFS in a hands-on workshop. In this workshop, we will explore compassionate approaches to various aspects of ourselves and practice these skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Note that this workshop is not intended for people in crisis or in need of intensive therapy services. This workshop is not intended to be a therapy support group. This workshop is not offered as training in IFS for care professionals. This workshop is an introduction to IFS at a community level.
